Applying for NGCSU fall 2013 asn program?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello! I am soooo nervous and anxious to get into North Georgia's program!! Last year I was wait listed and I had a 2.79 GPA and a 76.7 teas score. I've already taken a&p, with a's, b's and one c and I took micro, but failed. I'm taking it again this semester. I could've argued the grade, but the teacher was fired after one semester of working there and I figured that I needed the knowledge anyway, so I'll just retake it next semester. Anyway, I went and talked to my wonderful wonderful advisor and she looked at all my stuff, saw that all my core classes were pretty much done, save micro, computer science 1150 and English 2112, and said "well you are in very good shape, just take the teas one more time to stand out and look for some good news around saint Patrick's day" what?!?!? I now have a 2.84 GPA and I retook the teas, scoring 2 points lower. (I don't even want to talk about it lol) so, I'm curious as to what others stats are? If others have been in the same situation? Thanks :)

I'm a first year nursing student in this program. I had completed all pre-req's, 4.0 GPA, and 84% TEAS..and I think like 95% overall for the program...but they go by the individual score (84) I'm pretty sure.

It is a terrific program for moms or people that work, as you are only in class two days a week the first year, and three days a week the second year.

First year clinical sites are at the hospital in Dahlonega, the one in Gainesville, and the third one is in Habersham. You are assigned a hospital, and are unable to choose where you want to go.

Second year clinical sites are all over the place.

Thank you so much sk8inghunny for the info! That's why I chose this program! Very doable for me!

Will you be applying for (working as) a nurse tech this semester? I know some hospitals will hire you after one semester. And it's a good way to get into the hospital you want.

I am applying to an extern position over the summer, it's a 10 week program...but if they like you - you can possibly stay on once school starts back in the Fall...I do not plan to work more than a couple of days a month if I stay on during the fall. If you get an extern position - it's a good wayto get your foot in the door!!! It's basically like a job interview!

All the best to you!! :) thx for replying!!

Oh ok. I was going to try to get hired as a PCT or Nurse Tech during my second semester. But if that doesn't go thru I will apply for an extern position. I know that those are both good ways to get hired after school. Especially with the job market being as tight as it is right now.

Thx for the info!

Oh Ok. I looked at Chamberlain College when I was not accepted before but I just couldn't get over paying that much for it. I am already paying off student loans from my bachelors I received in 2001, I just didn't want to add to my debt. The tour of the school was very impressive but I could tell that is why we have to pay to much because it is top of the line equipment. This school costed more than the private college I went to. I decided to increase my GPA and TEAS score and apply again to a state college.

I sure do hope it all works out for you. Good Luck!

Thanks Nikki!! If you've taken yr prereq's towards a bachelors degree program it knocks the cost down. I'm hoping I'll be alright; the reviews from students and alumni are great!!

Your welcome!

The cost is still a little high for me even after all of my classes were factored in. If I don't get in this year I will consider it more closely.

Well I just got an email from the Nursing Department saying they have received my application. It also said that letters will be sent out around the first week in March! I'm super excited and and nervous all at the same time. Good luck to everyone who applied to the program!

Hopefully this thread will also pick up since we are so close to knowing our fate!

Hey Nikki did the email go to your N. GA email account or your personal email account? I haven't seen one hopefully I will soon though!!! I don't want to wait until March just let us know already!
