Deferred a year because of surgery?
Hello! So I'm just wanting to get some info from people to see how other programs handle injuries. I had to have a L5-S1 spinal fusion in December. I was told it would take a few weeks until I got back to "normal" function by my neurosurgeon. By the time school started, I was able to drive to school and everything. Yeah it wasn't perfect, but I'm in my third semester of nursing school and I didn't want to miss anything. So I disclosed my light duty restrictions to my professor and was told the next day I can't participate in the program until next year. I was able to do my clinicals, restrictions being no lifting over 15lbs and I needed to sit down for a few minutes every couple hours. I was on light duty since last June and my professor last semester was completely accommodating and understanding when I had to sit down for a few minutes during the really boring geriatric clinical rotations. So I was told I couldn't participate in this semesters med surge/psych clinicals. I can't pick up until next spring because there are no classes offered before that I need. I go to a private college, is this a common thing? There are people in the program who use canes. And two others have back issues, yet they stayed. I just don't get it. I know they want to protect themselves but jeez.

Acceptance letters from N Georgia (UNG) Fall 2013
I'm in NO way trying to sound mean towards anyone at all, I'm just baffled by the north georgia nursing admission process. "Sigh"

Acceptance letters from N Georgia (UNG) Fall 2013
I don't really care what their reasoning is, peoples lives are on hold here waiting for this. These letters determine our future and shouldn't be taken lightly by them. I appreciate that they are using the extra time to evaluate I suppose...but we are still here. Waiting.

So, how do they determine who's on the waiting list when the semester ends? Are people moved up who got higher gpa's? Are people taken off or lowered who do poorly this semester? I've been wondering about this.

Applying for NGCSU fall 2013 asn program?
I live in gainesvile, so my options are limited. I'm going to apply to Brenau this spring for next year. We shall see what happens but I don't see any hope in NGCSU.

Applying for NGCSU fall 2013 asn program?
I don't even know where to go from here. I'm in the middle portion. My GPA isn't fantastic and that's what is holding me back. I got a 78 on my teas but I see people who were wait listed last year, in the middle portion and didn't get in. I am completely done with my core classes. I don't know what to do. When does the second batch of letters go out? May? By then, I'll already have registered for classes that I don't need. And my advisor, when I talked to her last semester, built me up that I was good to go and to "look for good news" and now this. They shouldn't be allowed to say things like that.

By the way, my school required a 2.75 GPA and a >65% on teas.

Applying for NGCSU fall 2013 asn program?
Hello! I am soooo nervous and anxious to get into North Georgia's program!! Last year I was wait listed and I had a 2.79 GPA and a 76.7 teas score. I've already taken a&p, with a's, b's and one c and I took micro, but failed. I'm taking it again this semester. I could've argued the grade, but the teacher was fired after one semester of working there and I figured that I needed the knowledge anyway, so I'll just retake it next semester. Anyway, I went and talked to my wonderful wonderful advisor and she looked at all my stuff, saw that all my core classes were pretty much done, save micro, computer science 1150 and English 2112, and said "well you are in very good shape, just take the teas one more time to stand out and look for some good news around saint Patrick's day" what?!?!? I now have a 2.84 GPA and I retook the teas, scoring 2 points lower. (I don't even want to talk about it lol) so, I'm curious as to what others stats are? If others have been in the same situation? Thanks :)
