Is this your first career choice?

Hello! I've been lurking around here for awhile and decided to post since it's my birthday!

Anyway, I was just wondering for how many people this is their first career choice, but if not, what are you doing now? I was a physical therapist assistant for 11 years before I got laid off because they rehauled Medicare. Right now I'm a medical transcriptionist and have been for almost 5 years. I'm currently applying for acceptance into an ADN program to begin in the fall of 2004. I have to take A&P II again since it's been longer than 6 years when I took it for my AAS degree for physical therapy. I think you really have to have a calling to be a nurse. What I have learned in my 38 years on this Earth is that it isn't necessarily hard to TELL people what you want but DECIDE what you want.

Have a great day!:balloons:

Marie, what is a Med-Surg Floor Floater? Sounds interesting.

A clinical asst. that has the whole floor to herself. On that schedule i'm under the "floater" column.

I do the stuff that a nursing asst., phlebotomist, unit secretary, and some nursing stuff on night shift.

So many ppl switch careers now a days its not funny...Ive been a licensed funeral director for 12 years now...I wouldve never dreamed of changinf careers after such a financially rewarding field, but nursing pays you as no other profession can, with smiles from ppl you helped...
