Working while in school

I was just wondering about how everyone dealt with working and going to school. My first semester for nursing starts in a few short weeks and the company I work for ( been here 9 yrs) will not work with me schedule wise. Because I am not available 40 hours ( I can do 33 hours which is still full time per there HR dept) my manager just informed me, he can not work around my class schedule. I filled out all the proper forms and let him know 30 days prior and never thought he won't work with me schedule wise. I really don't know what to do, he asked what I was going to do. Quit school or quit work? I beside myself, I need my job but I worked so hard getting where I am now and finally getting into nursing school.Has anyone else had situations like this? What did you do?

I say choose school over your job because they are not willing to work with your school schedule. You can always find another part time job. Don't let nobody or job stand in the way of your education. I quit my job before nursing school and it has worked out to my advantage because at the new job I was able to basically make my own schedule. I worked at that job for 6 years and the nurse manager acted like she couldn't work with my schedule. I started thinking to myself, she has her nursing license and career she don't care if I get mine. I prayed about it and God told me to quit and he would see me to the end. I quit and didn't look back. I graduated from my nursing program yesterday. I am wishing you the best of luck.

Congrats on completing your nursing program!

Im an aug 2015 hopeful and my job has already told me that going part time isnt an option (they know im a pre nursing student) ..after 4 yrs there ill quit and wont look back...i plan to renew my cna end of this year im hopes to secure a job and then work weekends when the program starts..best wishes on what's next to come for you
