What to wear to lab/clinical training.

So to lecture I just wear jeans and a t-shirt.

We have a skills lab and the first two weeks we are supposed to go to skills lab instead of clinicals. I guess this is supposed to just be practicing on dummies and practicing vital signs on one another.

Our professor told us we can wear what we want to that. I guess jeans t shirt and flip flops will be ok.

I'm just wondering what others wore to their skills lab. I don't want to be underdressed, but I don't want to wear my uniform since that is just for clinical days.

We had to wear our scrubs for lab... we had to dress for lab exactly as we would for a clinical day. Badge and all.

Same with us. We have to be dressed as if we're at clinicals. Now, skills practice time before a skills exam, we could wear street clothes, but closed-toed shoes were required, per OSHA in our state.

OP, just to be on the safe side (and look professional), I'd skip the flip-flops :)

We can wear our street clothes to lab, with our lab jacket and badge over them. Flip flops are a BIG no no. Only closed-toe shoes, non-slip are allowed for safety reasons. The instructor has sent two people out of lab for improper footwear. We also have to tie back long hair.

I second this. Even if you are allowed to wear flip-flops, just skim 'em. Definitely not professional, and as silly as it seems, you should look somewhat professional everyday in class! Your teachers could be the ones who eventually help you get a job.

My school also requires us to wear full uniform for skills labs and simulations, especially proper shoes because we practice with needles in both. On days we have lab but won't be working on skills stuff, we can wear kakis with a polo that has our nursing emblem on it.

Edit: I was replying to SopranoKris's post above, but it clearly didn't quote them!
