What was your GPA before getting accepted?

  1. I am almost done with my pre-reqs and i wanted to know what others GPA's were before being accepted into your nursing program.

ps. first time user, is there a spell check on these things?

This is an interesting question since most schools give you an average acceptence GPA, but you have to wonder if they accept people outside of that range. I think they do since my friend just got accepted to a top ten nursing school with a 2.9 GPA although she got As and Bs in the science pre-reqs. Of course, she already has a bachelor's degree in a health related field.

I got accepted to a top 10 nursing school as well with a 3.9 GPA for my master's and bachelor's and I had a 4.0 in the science pre-reqs. However, had they asked for SAT/ACT scores I probably wouldn't have gotten in since I only got a 23 on my ACT (I think that's like 1000 on the SAT???). So who knows really.

All you can do is apply, if you have all the pre-reqs done that makes a major difference. I only got accepted to 1 of 3 schools last year with 5 pre-reqs yet to go.

Your ACT/SAT score made me chuckle. My little sister is in the process of preparing for her SATs and she was just informed that the average in our state for the SATs is 850....!!!!

    That's a 53%!!!!!!

    It's just hard to believe...

    oops....

I forgot to add my GPA. I've not yet heard if I'm accepted/denied but I had a 3.8 GPA (4.0 overall science courses) with no previous bachelor's and applying to (according to US News and World Report) a "top ten" undergrad BSN program. I'll let you know if I get in or not in a month or so

Mine was a 4.0, but that was only for a few classes, and my school doesn't go by GPA to decide who enters the nursing program, only NET score (changing this year to NLN, I believe).

What is net score? (NET test?)

4.0, I started in chemical engineering and then changed my mind one year into college. Our school is a little different in that they use the pre-nursing classes to weed people out and then the actually nursing sequence they're pretty helpful. (A&P 1&2 were some of the biggest weed outs and Pharm-we take it as a pre-req too).

At my school the most people I have seen drop a class is my advanced physiology class.

I had a 3.4 GPA and was 44th out of 180-ish applicants. I was also #4 on the alternate list :angryfire ! But lucky me....several people declined their acceptance and another 2 failed to show up at the required orientation in August. So I got one of the slots!! WOOHOO....of course, after 3 semesters of nursing school, my GPA is now down to 3.2 :uhoh21:
