I am an RN student at HACC and will start my clinicals in aug 2013. I was wondering about what bachelors classes should i take since i have about two smesters before cliniclas. i would be okay taking about two to three classes each smester. Also, I am thinking about going to LGH to do bachelors. Is it a good choice for me or not? Are there other places near York that are better.

Hey! I have family in York and live in Maryland (Annapolis area). Anyways, there are some other places in the York/Harrisburg area you could look at for RN-BSN:

1. York College of Pennsylvania - I actually looked at this school and really liked it, but because they don't take any transfers into their traditional BSN I was not able to apply. http://www.ycp.edu/academics/academic-departments/nursing/nursing-major/programs-for-rns/rn-to-bs/

2. Penn State (online) - http://www.worldcampus.psu.edu/degrees-and-certificates/nursing-rn-to-bs-bachelors/overview

3. Penn State (Harrisburg) - http://harrisburg.psu.edu/programs/bachelor-science-nursing

The Penn State option would probably be most affordable, but York is not terribly expensive for a private school.

I would recommend looking at what these schools want for core classes. Most likely humanities, history courses, & additional English/math courses. Good luck!!

Thanz for theadviceon classes as well about schools. I didnt think of penn state. It does seem like a good option. I have taken humanities and english and math already. Do you think i will be required more english than 102 and more math than 151. I thought bachelors would have more core courses. Is that not the case?

I also found this on the HACC nursing website: http://www.hacc.edu/Academics/CoursesAndPrograms/Courses-and-Programs-Details.cfm?prn=3680

It provides you with articulation agreements for RN-BSN after you get your ADN from HACC. It also has advising work sheets which tell you which classes you will need for each specific school. So look at that to see what you will need to take while waiting for clinicals.

Good luck to you!

Thanx for the link. I will check into it.
