what might be involved and how do I arrange to take part?

just trying to clarify - there is basic research and applied research,

basic research is pure research to generate knowledge, applied research is using knowledge to solve immediate problems (concerned with the effect of the intervention

on the patient - such as turning the patient to relieve pressure)

does this mean that for me to take part in applied research - I am to demonstrate problem-solving for similar types of patient problems?
