My textbooks are getting very expensive as I'm sure you all know. My school requires me to purchase an online resource + the ebook. They say that you can purchase the hard copy if you so wish. I hate ebooks. However, buying both is going to push the price of each book into the $300 range.

One of the text books is Brunner & Suddarth's textbook of medical-surgical nursing, (13th ed.). I noticed that the 12 edition is significantly cheaper. Would it put me at a disadvantage to purchase the 12th edition print book? I would have the 13th edition available online.

My entire class used the 13th edition of that book while I used the 12th with no problems at all. We were not required to used the online resources or ebook that was part of the bundle. The only issue you might have is the that the page numbers were not the same so you had to dig a little to find what you were looking for. The books were the same , word for word, with the exception of a few different charts to look at. Save your money and use the 12th edition....it worked perfectly for me :)

Don't waste your time and money with new editions, seriously. I bought old editions for $4 on Amazon and still graduated with honors.

Sure, you can use older versions of your textbooks. One day, perhaps your child will be treated by a physician who used an old hematology text, too.

Things change a lot faster than they used to. Anybody who doesn't believe me, read up on the difference between chemo/rads of 5 years ago and immunotherapy for President Carter's melanoma treatment plan.
