Sweating in my scrubs... yuck

Alright, my fellow nursing people, I need your expertise. I have a dilemma of sweaty sorts.

I'm a sweaty, sweaty person. Ever since puberty I've been plagued with an excessive sweat problem in the armpit areas that has caused a lot of embarrassment and severely limited my wardrobe options. I like to compare my sweating to that of a large hairy Russian man in Florida during a heat wave. Yep, it's that bad.

For the past few quarters of nursing school I've been suffering in royal blue scrubs that show every water drop with spot light brilliance. Since there's no option for different scrubs, I need some advice on how to curb the sweat mark notability.

Has anyone found a particular type of shirt to wear under their scrubs that's amazing at wicking moisture, without redistributing it onto the scrubs? I've considered Under Armor, but recently heard it's not that great if you're a super sweater. Anyone else have this problem and have any found ingenious ideas?

By the way, I'm not looking for medical advice here. I know I can probably find a pharmaceutical cure for this problem, but since I cannot afford even the cheapest insurance right now... it's not on the table as an option. And yes, I've tried every type of deodorant known to man kind.

Mitchum Antiperspirant is OTC. The key to any antiperspirant (not deodorant!) is to have it onboard hours before you need it and use it every single day because it actually interacts at the subcutaneous level and takes awhile to accumulate. Apply before bed after shower every night. Also works well for palms and feet. Can't you see your college health staff? And you'll have to have health insurance soon, so then you can ask your primary care to help you out. [/quote'] I was going to mention Mitchum. I have hyperhidrosis and it's soooo embarrassing. The only thing in my closet are black shirts because of this. The clinical strength deodorant actually makes me sweat more. I use Mitchum and the pink Axe deodorant. Men's deodorant always works better. Mitchum is to be put on before bedtime. I put it on, go to bed, wake up and use my Axe. Mitchum is also cheap. The only thing I warn you is to NOT put it on freshly shaved arm pits. It burns like a mofo. I made that mistake once and I wanted to cry.

Edit: I didn't mention clothing because I haven't found anything clothing wise that helps. If anything it makes it worse. At least for me.

Thank you for the input. Glad to know I'm not alone. I want to wear all the cute shirts and fun fabrics, but I know I'd sweat through anything in five minutes flat.

Try the Mitchum. It really does work well. :)

for school, what about an under armor shirt underneath to wick the sweat and help keep you cool(ish) and then a tshirt on top of that. Would they let you wear a scrub vest or scrub top that buttons down that you could leave open? I did try this and it worked, but I couldn't stand how hot I was. I could barely wear a tank under my scrubs. I've also tried mitchum but don't remember noticing a big difference. I literally can't own anything white because I ruin it with pit stains within 2 washes. :( Another thought would be scrubs that are over sized. I would sometimes notice a difference when I would wear larger tops.

Ok.... Here is what you do. Going to cost you about $100 but it is worth so much more. Go to sweatblock.com. Follow directions provided. I was very skeptical at first but willing to try anything. I was so surprised!!! Worked so well and has helped with overall condition. I have used for two years now with some slight irritation from time to time, but very mild. Usually last about ten days, then reapply. The first time I used the product I repeated in three days to be sure it took and presto! I felt like a normal person and was able to concentrate on learning and not my underarms. Second thing you do is go to advandri.com and purchase the company's undershirt with maximum protection pad, not sweat-proof shirt, but just their regular shirt with maximum protection pad. The pads are sewn in and work extremely well. They come in white and black and you can wear under your uniform. You can call if you want, they are very helpful. As a RN now working over 12 hours, I don't have to worry about anything but my patients. These help my everyday life as well, wish I found these years ago! Try and let me know. You will be so relieved!!!! Now concentrate on school!!!

In about 20 days aren't we all required to have health insurance in 2014 or pay a hefty fee?

I use a product called "No More Monkey Butt" I get really sweaty down south and have found this to be fantastic. No infections or respiratory issues either. It also prevents chaffing. I live in the mid west and won't leave the house without it in the summer time.
