Steps to become a PMHNP???

Nursing Students General Students

Hello! I'm currently a junior in high school. I've known what I want to do with my life for quite some time. My only problem is, I have NO IDEA how to get there! What should I major in university? Do I go to a separate nursing school after college? Couldn't I just earn my BSN at university? After that, which special steps do I take to become a PMHNP? Like special exams and that? I've been Googling for ages and every time I find an answer, I don't understand it because they use nurse speak. (Earn you BSN, then earn an MSN, then apply for the FRK and the XYZ) Thank you in advance!

That means, earn your undergraduate college/university bachelor's of science degree in nursing (BS or BSN), then apply to a program for a master's of science in nursing (MSN or MN). At that point you choose what you want to do and take a master's or doctoral (DNSc, PhD) course of study to prepare you for your goal position.

There are different ways to get there, but that's the general path. So now you want to take all the science you can, apply to college or university for an undergraduate nursing major, and see what doors you want to open with that. Good luck!

Also, try the pre-nursing forum. Lots of folks there in the same boat, lots of ideas and questions.
