:Snow: I am so glad to be done with first semester. Praise be to God! I have a renewed, fresh focus for 2005. I moved my seat to the front row, I am making every effort to be to school/clinical early *as opposed to right on time* and I am going to make it a point to spend more time in the skills lab. All that said, I am PETRIFIED of going into the acute care setting. I am excited but so intimidated. My clinical evaluation was fair, a solid B, but it could be better and so now I fear my skills are not up to par to handle acute care. SPNs past, present, and future: what do you think about clinicals in the acute care setting? What can I expect? SN feel free to answer too :imbar I just am not sure if LPN and RN clinical rotations are the same.

LAST OF ALL: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!! :singing:

I loved going to acute care. All seven weeks of it. Much more me than five weeks in LTC!!!

Don't worry, your instructors are right there with you. Mine talked me through each procedure before we went into the room. Lots of encouragement when doing the skills.

Just keep on top of the care plans, and research your meds. Funny how many students decide during this placement that nursing is not for them.

I discovered that wounds didn't disgust me, now I love to see how the body can heal itself. Always been worried about the blood, guts, and gore. Now I know that sputum is the worst thing known to this LPN!:rotfl:

There is so much to learn.

Enjoy!!!

Well, you see your client and get to assess them the day before you actually start care(or at least that's how we did it) Go home and look over any of the things you might have to deal with and the skills. Be prepared to tell the instructors how you would carry out a certain procedure instead of the other way around. Be confident in what you're doing. You are right to spend more time in the skills lab...the improvements you have suggested will help you pull an A this time around. I'm sure you'll be gr8, and will enjoy it! This is the part of the program I was looking forward to..so much to learn. Stay in prayer...you'll be fine:)
