Nursing Students General Students

i work full time as a medical receptionist right now from 8-5. the school i want to go to is mon-thurs 5-10pm and on sat from 6:30am to 3:30pm for the part time program. i am married and my husband doesn't make a lot of money so most of the income is on my shoulders. the school starts in april and it last for 18 months. my husband doesn't think i am going to be able to do it. he said he thinks the only way i can do nursing school is if i go full time and work part time but at this time we are not able to afford that.

does anyone else work full time and go to school part time with the same hours? i am so scared because i want to be a nurse so bad but i think he is right. i am not going to be able to work full time days and go to school at night, still find time to study and be a wife.

any ideas?

This is my first posting, ive just been looking around but i really am interested in your problem. i am 23 and just finished going through a divorce. The main force driving my divorce was that my husband was not supporting me to go back to school to get my lpn. You are young and you are right you need to do it now. It will be hard. You have options like trying to get student loans for the extra living expenses during school. But what is 18 months of penny pinching and stress compared to a lifetime of having the career of your dreams. I hope and pray for you that your husband and you can do this together and look ahead to better your future and yes painfully sacrafice in the present to get there. Good luck remember to always follow your heart!!!

unless you can be in 2 places at the same time, no you cant do this....also perhaps your husband is correct? in that you, by your own adm are not a good studier, poor test taker and have trouble with math.....that you cant do this while working full time?.....me thinks that starting with those three things, before trying full time school, would be advantageous.....try the local CC, (if you have one) for study skills classes, math eval testng, and perhaps remedial math courses... i happen to be a good test taker....part inherent in who i am, partly because i take the attitude, that NO ONE TEST IS GOING TO MATTER A WHOLE LOT....this eases the tension considerablly

good luck, just taking a sl longer view of things may benefit you in the long run
