Sallie Mae loan disbursement????

I got approved for a SallieMae Tuition Answer loan (18,000), and it says on the website that i am scheduled for disbursement July 30th. Which is today (well, in 8 minutes it will be yesterday).

When and how will i get the money??? Do they just send me a check in the mail for 18,000????? that seems a bit surreal....

anyone done this recently who can answer my questions?

I had a Sallie Mae loan last year and they disbursed the money directly to my school's financial aid office. I got the amount only for tuition though, not any extra for living expenses.

oh, i'm pretty sure it's going directly to me, because it's a tuition answer loan, and that is for living expenses as well as tuition, etc.....

eek, now i REALLY have anxiety....wish they were open at 12:30 a.m. to call and ask. but no, i checked into. i'm 99.99% sure it comes to me. gawd, if it goes to my school, i may as well kiss it goodbye. they couldn't be trusted with picking up a shiny penny from the ground to put it in their pocket. LOL :-D

I know if it does go to the school you won't get it until all the loans go out. They have a certain date when they send out everyones money, and nothing goes out until that date.

Hey! I've done Sallie Mae before - Tuition Answer as well - you got it - it's the surreal option - watch your mail closely, 'cause they will be sending you an $18,000 check in the mail, hehe...

...And yes, they're real, haha!!! :)

If it said that your disembursement date is/was 7/30, it should be getting out to you in 10 days or less - more than 14 days, I'd definitely give them a call...but I've always gotten mine within the 10 day frame...

I used to do customer service for Sallie Mae for their tuition answer loan - and yep you will get the money in the mail - and they say that it takes 10 days. I would however check on the website today just to make sure that the disbursment date still says the 30th then you are good. Before they assign an actual disbursment date, they give it an estimate - but if it is a date in the past you can know for sure that it is the actual date.
