Reviews & Rationales or Made Incredibly Easy

I'm sure this has been asked somewhere on this site, but I've tried the search and Bing and couldn't find a comparison of the two.

Which one of these series is better? I figure if I start buying from one I will most likely collect books from that one series. Amazon lets you look in most of the Made Incredibly Easy books, and I like that they are colorful for the most part, and have illustrations. But I can't look inside the Reviews & Rationales books. Are they colorful? Blah? Boring? Which is harder? Which is more understandable?

Are there better series out there than these? I'm going to get a fluids and electrolytes book first.

I have books from each series! I like each for different reasons. The Made Incredibly Easy is... well incredibly easy! Its teaches you more about the concepts, gives you cool tips and tricks to remember things. It explains complicated things in very easy to understand ways. In the back of each chapter there are a few multiple choice questions but no rationales.

On the other hand, the R&R books are focused more on NCLEX type questions and geared to help you pass exams. It gives you an out-line type overview of each chapter and covers all the important points. No colorful pictures or anything! There are about 20 questions in each chapter with rationales. It also comes with a CD that has a 30 question test on each chapter, with rationales!

I find the R&R a lot more useful. I always use them to study for my exams. It helps me prepare for tests better and on improving my critical thinking. The Made Easy book is great for understanding concepts, but I just use my text books for that! The NCLEX type questions I find more valuable.

I have both as well and much prefer the R&R books. The information was very concise and the questions really helped prepare me for exams.

The MIE books are a little too simplified and their illustrations are cartoons. I have several of them but don't really care for them.

The MIE books are definitely useful for people who have read and read and read their textbooks and just can't put it all together.

Understanding is the first basis of everything else. If you're the kind of person who really feels a bit shaky when somebody asks, "How does that work, anyway? How would you prioritize that?" then the MIE books will give you a more confident basis for moving on to the R&R series.
