Questions about HESI

My nursing school has just implemented HESI this semester. This is my second year in nursing school. Last year we used ATI, but they switched to HESI this semester. ATI didn't hurt us if we didn't do good on it, but HESI does. It is calculated into our grade (10%). I was wondering if anyone could give me their input or thoughts about how they feel about HESI. Is it difficult to get a 900. We take a HESI exam on Psychiatric nursing and Med Surg at the end of this semester. I am just worried that these exams is what is going to fail me. I have only 6 months left and I don't want to fail. Does anyone know of any good study guides for the HESI. I have already purchased the HESI book for NCLEX, but I don't know if that will be enough.

Don't panic about the HESI exam, practice your Saunders NCLEX questions in preparation.

We did two HESI exams and I did great on both.

Read the HESI book for whatever section you will be tested on, but don't use that as your only study guide. There are a few things that HESI LOVES to test on, but the rest of your professors (probably), and NCLEX does not. There should be sample questions in the CD that comes with the book...don't read too much into the scores.

Other than that, do lots of questions. I personally found Saunders' questions too easy, I used Review and Rationales series by Hogan. Some of my friends swears by Mosby. Don't worry too much over HESI, it's not as scary as it sounds. And this is from someone who had HESI as 10 - 15% of her grade for every single clinical course save one.

I have taken a total of 13 HESIs, and I will say this, it is not as scary as it sounds. It is not as difficult as you think it is. And besides doing a lot of NCLEX questions and review where you went wrong, it is near impossible to study for it.
