Hi guys! I'm completely new to this forum, but glad that it exists. I just started taking my pre-reqs for an accelerated bsn program. I JUST graduated with my bachelors...does that put me at a disadvantage? I'm thinking that I would be at some sort of advantage since I am younger and have no family or children and little debt. Do nursing admissions take those factors into consideration? ANY response would be greatly appreciated! :)

I would talk to the admissions counselor at the school you plan to attend. I am in an accelerated program, and the only criteria the admissions committee used were the prerequisite GPA and (to a small degree) the essay. However, each school is different as far was what they are looking for in a candidate. Some reward healthcare experience, while others don't care one way or the other. Hope this helps and good luck!

I came into my BSN program a year after getting my first BS (hehe) degree. I haven't seen it as a disadvantage. I've had quite a few interesting clinical options because I am able to take night clinicals (married, but no kids), and the competetion has been more for the day slots in my program.
