I'm overthinking myself here and would appreciate a little feedback to see if I'm heading in the right direction. Here is a problem that I'm working on.

The order is to infuse 1000cc of 5% dextrose over 24 hours to keep the vein open. Using 60 grrs/cc, determine the gtts/min and cc/hr needed.

Thank you.

What is it that was giving you difficulty? ("overthinking")

1000cc / 24 hours = ________ cc per hour to infuse 1000cc over a 24-hr. period

If 60gtt = 1 cc, then how many gtt will infuse in an hour? Divide that by 60 min. in 1 hour and you'll get your gtt/min.

Thank you MLOS! I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to making things harder than they really are.
