Please explain blocks

Nursing Students General Students

On the website for the LPN school I am trying to get into it reads:

At this time, the program at Estrella Mountain provides students who have completed a Practical Nursing Program and are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and have taken the required prerequisites the opportunity for "advance placement" into the MCCDNP at Block 3 and progressing to Block 4. At this time EMCC is not providing Blocks 1 and 2 of the Maricopa Program and Advanced Placement (Blocks 3 and 4) is the entry point into the program at Estrella Mountain Community College.

I have no idea what the blocks are - are they referring to bridging to RN?

That's what it looks like. It's basically saying that that campus has the last two blocks of classes their for anyone who is already a LPN. If you're starting from the beginning you'll have to take the first two blocks of classes but they're not offered at that campus.

Thanks for clarifying. I think it's old info though because when I called about the program, it sounded like they now have the complete LPN program available with no prereq's. I'm going to double check Monday though. Thanks again.

The Block is just the semester. After I finish two blocks, I'll be able to be certified as an LPN, should I want to. So, what they're saying is that if you're already an LPN and have taken the appropriate prerequisites, you could get into Block III of their program to get your RN.

MCCNP does have a program, I know there is one at Gateway, where you can get on the fast track to the LPN. Basically you don't have to take any of the prereqs. If you wanted to go on to get your RN later, you'd take the prereqs then.

Good luck!

Okay - a block is a semester - that's what I suspected but needed confirmed. Thanks for explaining. :heartbeat
