Nursing School Makeup (clinicals)

Hello everyone! I am starting nursing school on August 25th and was wondering what most of the girlies around here do for makeup! Do you guys think that eyeliner may be too heavy of a thing for me to wear? What about a natural face and berry lips? I would like to know how you guys do your makeup for clinicals! :)

Thanks for all the comments! I guess it really depends on what school you are going too, usually I do more natural makeup anyways, but sometimes I like to a natural face with some berry colored lips, but NOT like completely berry colored deep color! Its more like a subtle berry sheen, like a lip gloss! :)

I do wear makeup, but I just make sure nothing dramatic. I wear foundation, highlight with a bronzer, use a light pink gel blush on the cheeks, eyeliner, mascara and some gloss. It sounds like a lot, but I keep it very light and clean looking. I have never had an issue.

Yup, I wear makeup. I wear foundation, powder and lipgloss. I never do my eyes up or anything like that. I don't see a problem with eyeliner as long as it's not heavy. Only reminder is that you may have to wear a mask during the day, so keep that in mind when it comes to the staying power of your makeup. Good luck in nursing school!

I just do foundation, powder (if it's on hand), 1 coat top lashes only (they're blonde so it looks like I have none when I don't wear any mascara), and chapstick. I try really hard to be as plain as possible but to also look healthy and put together. No perfume, no scented lotion -- keep it simpler than simple. The best rule is, put the minimum on that would require no touch up (because, seriously, you won't want to be putting makeup or touching your face at all after the things you do and see in clinical).

We were just told not to have extra piercings and no visible tattoos. We have a few girls with lip piercings who put in clear plastic things. No one changes their make up. Some come with heavy make up (which is how they usually wear it at class) and some not at all. Def up to your school. If you want to find out before you start email your nursing program and ask if they have a policy on make up for class and clinicals and labs.

My program states is natural looking make-up only. In my case, I wear tinted moisturizer, one coat of mascara, and chapstick. A couple of the women in the program wear a little more, but our instructors are pretty strict about not allowing too much. Honestly, I wouldn't want to wear much more...I end up running around so much in clinical that I wouldn't want anything heavy or with the potential to smudge or smear if I got a little sweaty.
