OK, I am in my second semester junior year of a BSN program. We are currently doing adult health, OB and Research. We have lost class members, that actually failed the adult health portion. We have to have 100% proficiency on math exams to go to clinicals and have lost people due to this, lastly we have lost people for not passing the EOC (end of course) ATI exams. With a lot of students failing out, the remaining students have become cut-throat, cheating and conniving people. It has become really sad. Though I am doing well in classes; I am utterly overwhelmed with my home life and family. My peers think that since I am "passing" everything is fine. I feel bad for those who we have lost and for those who we may lose. I just feel like the energy of our class has become so negative. Any advice for coping is welcome. 2013 only one more year! :(

Junior year is the hardest year. A lot of people tend to leave and the course work tends to be the most difficult (new subjects, new clinicals, etc.) It feels like you've been in school for ages, but still have so far to go. I'm not surprised that people are feeling burnt out.

Remember that it's nearly April, so the semester will be over in less than two months. I'd suggest finding another student or an instructor that you trust and can confide in about your feelings and difficulties outside of school. Sometimes just having someone to vent to can help a lot. As far as the classes go, keep working hard and try not to get caught up in the negativity. Remember this too shall pass.

When you all come back in the fall for senior year you'll find that you're rested, refreshed, and excited that graduation seems so much closer. There will be a huge difference in the attitudes of your classmates. Just hang in there until then.

I'm in my second semester of an ADN program. I'm 19 and I concur that people can get snappy after cuts have been made, but for the most part we have a good class. I'm the youngest in my class, so a lot of times I feel like I'm a little behind everyone else, but I don't focus on that too much.
