  1. Next year i will be a senior in hs. I plan to go into nursing in college. I finished algebra 2 and did really well. Next year i am going to take trig for the first half of the year. But for the second semester should i take pre-calc or would that not be necessary?

  3. If you are going for BSN statistics is usually a requirement, but for ADN, college math was enough which mainly consisted of algebra. Nursing math can get a little tricky, some people prefer to use the ratio method, others like to set up problems algebra style, it all depends on your preference. My suggestion would be to take the math class that would set you up for statistics because that seems to be the major math class people have trouble with, at least the people I know including myself. I'm in the process of bridging to my BSN and putting off stats as long as possible but I know I will have to face it sooner or later.

  5. I think it's great that you're planning ahead! I would recommend taking pre-calc. You might decided to major in biology instead of nursing, or double major. The math background would benefit you in that case. Good luck!

  8. The nursing programs that I know of all require Statistics. As stated before, best to check with the programs that you are going to be applying for. Good luck!

Take as much math as you can, simply because the practice in logical thinking pays off. I take it "AP" is advanced practice? Dual college credit? Take it!

I took a lot of higher math in high school, didn't need it specifically for nursing but it paid off in the science prereqs. Also, when I took the required Stats course as a prereq, it was a piece of cake; which did help on my GPA and applications.

Not necessary in my opinion. Statistics was a prereq to apply to my nursing program. I would check your nursing program's requirements and see if it's required, and if it is, I'd take AP Stat to get that college credit! And if you pass the AP exam, you won't have to take it in college!
