I will be starting my 1st semester of five in january--my ?? is this--during orientation they told us we are required to take a math test every 8weeks(end of each 1/2 semester)--what kind of math is it-i made an 89 in Technical math--but that was 2 semesters ago--im not great at math and worried that i wont make the 90 or above that is required--can anyone who's already in the program tell me what the test are like so i will know what i need to go over before i start---worried in laporte :):roll

My guess is it will be a lot of math involving dosage and calculations. Maybe you can start working on studying up on that before the semester starts. I know that is one of the things I am looking at while I am waiting.

where would i look for something to study for dosage and calcultions?? internet library?? thank you TeresaRB2B

We use Math for Meds: Dosages & Solutions 8th ed. to learn how to do various calculations.

link to math for meds at amazon.com

I agree with the above posters. I just finished my first semester, and our math tests were all on dosage calculations and I.V. drip rates. We will have more math tests each semester.

Go to Barnes and Noble and look in the section for nursing---you will be able to find many books on dosage calculations etc.

Good luck to you---hold on, the first semester flies by.

wE ALSO USE MATH AND MEDS FOR NURSES, AND ITS GREAT! DONT WORRY ABOUT IT YOU WILL DO FINE. jUST ALWAYS REMEBER ITS WHAT YOU WANT OVER WHAT YOU HAVE TIMES ONE OVER ROUTE: WANT 1

HAVE ML

LOOKS LIKE: 20MG 1

10MG PER 1 TAB

CROSS MULTIPLY AND YOUR answer is two tabs!

dont worry you'll get it! good luck hope this helps

It's all dimensional analysis. You use the fractions. It's not that hard. Check out the sites, they help a lot.

Thanks Andi2634! Although I have until the Fall, hearing of all the struggles related to pharmacology, I want to be as prepared as possible.
