Nursing Students General Students

HI,

After being a dental assistant for many years I am going to attempt to get into nursing school. I am taking the NET on August 18th. I was wondering if any other "old" person ( I am 39) has taken the NET recently after being out of school for so long. Do I have a chance at passing, is there special study guides I can use?? I took college algebra and made an A 5 years ago, but unlike my sciences, I did not retain any of my math!! Thanks for any comments.

i'm 42 and just did the Net a couple of months ago. I would get a studyguide for the NET, your collegbookstore might have one, if not search on Amazon. I used one, I think from ERI world, but i can't remember exactly. It will freshen you up on the math portion, though , I think you will do fine on that; it is pretty basic stuff (proportions,fractions, percent and convert those). It is all timed ,so that is something you might want to practise, especially the reading. That was where i ended up running out of time, the first time. I had to do the reading twice. You will do fine, good luck!

Hi - get the practice book for the NET and pay special attention to the English, I wouldn't say its necessarily harder than the math portion but can be tricky. The math is basic stuff - %, conversions, fractions and some algebra. The English is reading paragraphs and figuring out the conclusion, main idea, etc. It's testing your critical thinking skills. Most of the people I know that failed was the english. So practice and practice. It's not difficult but knowing it is timed can be nerveracking. Just be relaxed and positive and u should pass with flying colors! Good luck!
