My wife's school requires a school patch to be sewed on the arm of each scrub top and her lab coat...

I'm ok with hand sewing and with the machine...

Any one have experience with sewing on patches?

These must be attaches 2" below the upper arm seam... So that makes it even more challenging...

Should I try the machine first or just break down and do it by hand?

I tried the Velcro at first but because my wife's school patch was round on one side it didn't appear all that great with the Velcro. One end just kept coming off. This was also complicated by the fact the patch needed to be warn on the arm sleeve...

In the end I ended up sewing them on by hand.

Thanks for all the advise!

i used magnets to hold my badge on! I glued a magnet on the back of the badge, then stuck a magnet to it, with my shirt sleeve inbetween. (makes sense?) Well anyways now i can wear the badge with any shirt i want and take it off for the wash. Plus in the "off season" i can use it as a fridge magnet!

No, my velcro stayed on, but I did put a few stitches in the corners on both pieces.

I have seen some students w/their's safety pinned on--that looks just a little tacky!
