Hey does anyone know of any microbiology courses offered online or in the Buffalo NY area for winter break? I would love to complete it over winter. Thanks.

Regardless of if your nursing school will accept online classes for sciences or not (mine didn't) I would absolutely not recommend taking micro over a winter break shortened class. It was SO much material even over a full semester I'm not even sure how it would be possible to condense it to a winter break class, let alone to be able to do well and get a good grade overall. Can you take it during spring semester instead?

Well I did a&p over summer and did really good I got an A so I'm not really concerned about it being condensed but I was trying to avoid taking it over spring because I am in a ADN program and it is very tough, the instructors recommend just taking nursing classes especially because almost half of the program fails out in nursing 2..I can wait until next summer but was just trying to get it over with.

Well maybe you'll get lucky and find one and it'll work for you. I personally have never seen a winter intersession science lab course offered, but that's not to say they don't exist. The summer would definitely be a good option, though! I took A&P 1 over the summer and did well, too, so micro over the summer couldn't possibly be worse! You'll make it work! :)

I'm currently taking Micro online through Cayuga Community College in NY and the SUNY Online Learning Network. It is the only place that my nursing program will accept online sciences from. I did the same for A&P I and II. Beware, for Micro online you have to purchase an expensive lab kit and microscope to essentially set up a mini lab in your home! You can check to see what they have to offer over the winter and summer breaks.

Omg thank you so much that is perfect we can only do suny schools, if you don't mind me asking how much did the kit come to?

Oh good, that's awesome! Just double check with them prior to registering.

For the lab kit, microscope, oil immersion lens, and shipping it came to $560. It was a lot on top of the course cost and textbook. By the time I realized all that it was too late to do something else because I needed to get it out of the way before my nursing program starts in January.
