Me and My big mouth....

I'm pretty good about keeping secrets, respecting privacy and that sort of thing, my mom always say my grandmother trained me well for the CIA. But sometimes, (especially when i get excited about something) i look before I leap, and end up saying something to the wrong person, then I end up feeling stupid when the person doesn't know about it.

For example: I got an email from my boss, proposing a new work schedule where would be garenteed a day off every week. i.e 4 day work week, but they are only doing it with very senior staff, people who have been working in my position for over a year. On my floor that would be 4 people. Stupid me never looked at who recieved the email, I just assumed that everyone in my position got it. SO in my dumb excitment i mentioned it to someone who just got promoted to my position and hasn't worked for over a year in the position as yet, only maybe 3 months, only to realise she never got the email. Now I feel sooo stupid.

I know its a silly thing to be bothered about, but I am, and this isn't the first time it happened. Its always something silly and innocent that I never think about first.

Why do I have such a big mouth????!!!

Just wanted to vent.

If this person is upset, I think I'd mention to the boss that you spilled the beans so they could be prepared....

I've learned after many years to just keep my yap shut....I tended to be like that and my daughter is the same...open mouth; insert foot....you said it yourself in one of your last paragraphs:

that I never think about first

That's key....take a few minutes to think before you talk so you understand any ramifications....

I know, and thanks, and i did think about it, and I told myself to go check the email first and then promptly ignored my own warning when i saw my collegue. I just feel really stupid.

Thanks so much, you are right i will get over it eventually

i'm glad someone understands

Yup, been there. This too shall pass :lol2: .

Did the email say "don't tell anyone!!" I'm sure it's not a big deal. Everyone knows about everyones work schedule. I wouldn't worry about it! :)
