may have to drop out of school...

a few weeks ago, I posted that my husband and I are both being laid off. Well over the weekend, we found out that we may have to option to transfer to Chattanooga and keep our same pay rate, and possibly the same schedules. In addition to this, my husband found out today that one of the classes he needs is not going to be offered in the spring semester and that they don't plan on offering it again any time soon. :( There is a school in Chatt that offers the same class and since it is a requirement for their students, they will always be offering it (its considered an elective here) There are 2 radiology schools within a 20 mile radius of Chatt, but I don't know if I will be able to transfer. I may have to drop out and reapply all over again. :o I am so sad and totally torn. My husband has pretty much already decided that he wants to move. There's really no point in him staying here if he can't take the class he needs and is unemployed. I think it is probably best if I transfer as well and that's probably what we will do, I just had to vent to someone about it. I know radiology school isn't nursing school, but I know you guys worked your butts off to get into school and thought you might understand. Thanks for listening/reading.

Hi!! I just wanted to let you know im going through the same dilemma. My boyfriend is trying to transfer to another job also. I didnot go to school this semester because of that reason. I think if you go about it the right way you will be fine!! Good luck on your move!!!

:bluecry1: You poor thing. So much to deal with at one time and having to withdraw from school just kicks it. I don't know your age but I'm in my late 40's. Very late 40's if you get my drift. This was my fourth attempt at trying to get my education going without SOMETHING getting in the way. This one is definitely the charm. I will be transitioning from nursing student to student nurse in January.

There might yet be another chance for you. It's too soon to call it for sure. Timing is everything. When the time is right, you may be able to reevaluate.

I'm sorry for all your troubles.

my husband and I are both 25, we don't have any kids and we are renting a house right now. I am very thankful that we don't have to worry about our kids or about trying to sell our house, I know there are others that we work with that do have these stresses in addition to others.

Hopefully, if I have to drop out and reapply, it will only put me a year behind and at 25, I don't think a year is that big of a deal. I haven't contacted the schools in Chattanooga to see how they do admissions, but I am hoping that having a semester completed will look really good on my application and help me if I have to go through an interview process.

Like I said, I know what we will be doing, I guess I am just grieving the fact that I have to give school up when I enjoy it so much.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. It's hard to move like that, especially when you're established in school & all. Try & look into transfering to a school near Chattanooga...I would think that would be a good option for you. And if you lose your place & have to reapply...a lot of your classes, if not all of them, should transfer.

Angelac1978,

Why can't you transfer to the site closer to Chatt? Talk to your instructors and find out what your options are.

That way, all your work and records and financial aid will be there waiting on you. Is this an option?

Find out all you can about the program in Chatt. and TALK to them via phone to see just how much you need to do before you move.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

I am definitely hoping that I can transfer, but I'm not sure how their curriculum matches up with the school that I am currently in. Once we get the definite go ahead from work that we are in fact transferring, I am going to talk with my program director and see how she can help me. One good point in my favor is that our school has an agreement with the school in Chattanooga for students who want to go on and complete their BS. I am hoping, hoping, hoping that this will make it possible for my to transfer. Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement, it really makes a difference in my mood!

A few years ago I relocated to Georgia from Michigan. I took time off and then got back into the swing of things. I know what you mean about different curriculum but hopefully they will be pretty close. Mine were. I know how hard it is to put things on hold but you have to try to look at life as a whole and sometimes you just have to take the changes even if you do not like them! I have been there so I know a bit about what you are going through. Just wanted to say hi and good luck to you.
