Lower Columbia College vs. Clark College

Nursing Students General Students

I was hoping someone could give me some insight on Lower Columbia College's nursing program. I was all set on going to Clark and now the more I look into it I think LCC might be a better fit.

If anyone has an input as to which one they think is better or recently attended either, I would love to hear what you think.

Thank you!

Just checking back to see if anyone has any insight :-)

I'm finishing up the last of my prerequisites at Lower Columbia College. I hope to apply in the Spring for Fall 2017. I've had several classmates transfer over to LCC from Clark because of scheduling conflicts with Clark's prereqs. Anything in particular you'd like to know? I was just looking at the "proposed" requirements at Clark and they are identical to those at LCC, but the current prereqs look different. You can apply for LCC's Fall cohort in the Spring, and for Winter/Spring in the Fall. 20 students are accepted into each cohort.

LCC is usually pretty good about transferring classes over, but every now and then something funky happens over at administration. I just had a classmate (who is a LPN) have to retake A&P at LCC even though she had taken in at Clark. Another LPN friend of mine had her outside A&P classes accepted, but because she didn't take general biology at LCC, she couldn't get into microbiology (which is only offered twice a year).

Hi thewhitechickoj. Thanks for replying. I just got done with A&P II, Statistic, and Psych 100. I'm finishing up my last 2 pre-req's (nutrition & diversity) during winter quarter and applying in spring for a fall start as well. Hopefully we will be in the same class!! Do you know anyone that has gone to LCC? I've been really curious as to what the TEAS scores are and GPA's have been for the acceptance.

Thanks - Pinky

I'm Olivia, by the way. :)

I do know a couple people who are in the program right now, I'll have to ask them about their test scores. For winter quarter, I'm registered for A&P II and psych 200 (lifespan psychology). I've been told it depends on how many people are applying for the cohort. I know one student who got in with a couple C's on his transcript but he said not very many people applied that quarter....

Hi Olivia - How's A&P II going? Only a couple more weeks left :-) I'm so glad to be done and able to apply, but at the same time I'm wondering if I should retake a couple classes I got B's in or just spend a lot of studying for the TEAS test. I'm just really stressed that I won't get in. This is going to be along 6 months.

Things are going well! A&P II had me worried at first, but I've managed to turn it around. How is nutrition coming along? I took that class with Kepler and she made it really easy. Her class only met once a week and was an online hybrid class. What did you end up taking for your diversity? I took Span 121.

I took a TEAS practice test before the quarter started and I managed to pass every subject, except for math (less than 1%!). Now that Winter quarter is over, I think I'm going to attend a few of the math boot camps on campus to help refresh my rudimentary math skills. On the practice test, I had most of my problems with fractions and internally screamed at myself. I haven't had to work with fractions in years! The last math class I took was stats and you know how that goes... Haha.

I'm worried, myself. Right now I have a 3.5 GPA and am hoping to do really well on the TEAS to help make up for that. I have A's/A-'s in all of my classes except for Chem 121, Bio 241, and Bio 260... Those are B's. If I can't get into the Fall cohort, I hope I can get wait-listed for the Winter cohort.
