Last semester nursing school!!

Is anyone on here starting their last semester of nursing school this fall? And are you just as nervous as me!

I am! And I'm scared to death.

Well I can truly understand your feeling!!

I think this upcoming semester is worse than any other...I thought having the summer off I could relax but I am too anxious.

I know right! Im trying to read as much as I can but still feel like it wont be enough to prepare me.. Med-surg 1 was a nightmare so I can only imagine Med-surg 2!!!

May I ask, why are you all so nervous? Im starting in September and I have NO idea what to expect. You all are on the homestretch and have the knowledge to make it this far. Im sure you're smart to have come this far ;-)

Well thank you RNmyfuture for the kind words. I guess the nervousness is coming from what the instructors tell us. They say that its so hard and a lot of people dont make it to pinning. So that on top of the workload is making me worried I guess.

I am freaking out bc they stressed how hard this last level will be, not only class work but clinicals since we will have more than one patient and that they won't be "babying" us (not that I realize they have! Lol).

Plus, you feel like you worked his hard to get so far and to mess it up would be more devastating than if I had in other levels.

My husband has been working his but off so I could go back for a second degree and I don't want to let him or my kids down.

Which leads me to worrying about taking care of the kids while he is at work when the school load will be harder.

I'm starting my THIRD year and I'm scared to death! I'm over half way down, two years gone! I don't know what I'm going to do next Fall! For you, it is here. I hope you all do well with your last year, med-serg, preceptor, nclex and all! I guess it is what we have been waiting for... Good luck on your wild ride!

Don't stress guys! You all have made it this far in nursing school and you will finish! You just have to believe in yourself and stay positive!! Let me tell you about my whole nursing school story..

I was always an average student and did pretty well in school. But during my first semester I failed my Pharm class because at that time we used HESI and if you didn't get the raw score then you failed. Well I took it and was 7 points away from pass (raw score was 750 and I didn't make it). So I had to repeat the class. Btw, I went to an accelerated nursing school so we didn't have any breaks except one week before we started the new term and each term was 9 weeks long. Then I failed my 2nd class which was OB & Peds. I was 1% away and they didn't let me through. I cried so hard that week. I wanted to give up and quit nursing school!! But then I kept pushing myself because I knew in my heart that I was meant to be a nurse.

Later that year I excelled more than ever and soon became part of the Nursing Honor Society at school. I thanked God for that. Then this past May I had an interview the day before my graduation at the hospital of my dreams and got the job!!! Later I passed my exit exam/ATI NCLEX predictor with a 98% chance of passing the NCLEX. I took my nclex last week on Tuesday and woke up on Friday morning as an RN with my active license on California's BRN site!

SO PLEASE DO NOT BE NERVOUS! Let my story inspire you to push yourselves towards the finish line! Seriously, after failing 2 classes I wanted to give up! I didn't think I was going to even graduate but with prayer, hard work, and dedication, I not only graduated but landed my dream job and became an RN! GOOD LUCK FUTURE RNS! YOU WILL ALL MAKE IT! :)

NikkiC213 your story is such an inspiration and thank you so much for sharing it. Congrats on your new job and best of wishes to you :)!!

Thank you AdiaA24! I'm glad it inspired you because I want you to NEVER GIVE UP. You have come a long way and now is the time to strive even more in reaching your goal which is to pass that one last exam--NCLEX! :) My sister is also starting her last semester of nursing school this fall and I'm so proud of her because her program is accelerated too. We are all nurses right? So our job is to stick together and support one another. Best of luck to you on your last semester! :)
