Well, i'm about to get started on my next pre-req! I've already got a basic knowledge of Medical Terminology, but now I am taking the certificate class.

Any tips?

Wish me luck!:D

Good luck!! :)

I loved Medical Terminology ... I spent hours doing flashcards for each chapter ... and it worked ... I got a 110% in the class! (Yep, 110 ... my teacher graded strangely and I came out with more points than were actually possible ... that's a whole other story!).

My recommendation? Flashcards, flashcards, flaschcards. It's a great habit to start and use throughout Nursing school. I took them with me everywhere ... quizzed myself at stoplights, while waiting in line, even had my son quiz me from them! We both learned a lot that semester ... but he's only 11!

Just quiz yourself in different ways ... flashcards, the quizzes in the book, use the CD if it comes with one. And learn the prefixes, suffixes and such the best ... then you'll be able to figure out any word that comes your way!

Best wishes!

Read, read, read medical stuff. A medically oriented website, journals, text books..... anything that uses medical terminology in the proper way. Reading how the words are used will help cement what you are learning in your mind and you will learn more than if you learn the facts in isolation.

That's in addition to the flash cards and studying everyone else has mentioned too, of course. :D

Good luck! :nurse:
