I wanna change my routine in studying, usually my routine is: i'll sleep at 10 pm ( or 9 pm after studying) (leaving the light inside my room on) so that i can wake up easily to study (like around 2am or 3 am), when studying i usually summarize all the datas and highlighting those key words or important terms using diff. colors of pen or highlighter, or using sticky notes in memorizing . Thou i'm having a hard time sometimes because of sleep deprivation and disturbed sleeping pattern. I wanna know some other routines in preparation for my licensure examination next year.

The problem is, some of the ideas i studied usually ended within my short term memory ;( and i need to review again to remember those. Can you guys suggest some healthy routines? or effective routines or share your routine? :) hope you can help me. Godbless. :)

Good day:

In addition to the helpful information posted by pp, consider breaking things down. For example, this weekend involved needing to read 11 chapters for fundamentals. From previous experience, I know that when I read one chapter, do all of the objectives, and go through the NCLEX questions in the back of the chapter, it takes me a good 1.25 to 1.5 hours per chapter. If I'm trying to tackle the reading between Friday and Sunday inclusive, that's 4 chapters per day for two days, 3 chapters for the 3rd day. Given the chapters per day and previous time, I know I need to a lot at least 6 hours for Friday, 6 hours for Saturday, and 4.5 for Sunday. I can then break that time down further by putting in appropriate breaks.

Thank you.

I would not do the interrupted sleep thing. That's what is messing you up I'm going to say. Get full nights sleep and study during the day taking a break every hour. I do get up really early the morning of the test to review but always get a good nights sleep.

I agree, sleep well at night. You need that time to process the information that you reviewed and to rest up. Sleep at night and study during the day. A few hours everyday balanced with exercise and a healthy outlet will do the trick. Don't over study and SLEEP! Very important.

Hi there... The waking up multiple times during the night thing is really hampering your progress..

I would suggest getting a good nights rest the night before and then when you study break down each section into one hour portions. Study for that one hour, summarising anything you need to and then take a ten minute break...

For about 15 minutes after that try and remember as much as you can from what you studied. Anything you had a problem with, write down and return to it later.

After about 4 hours take an hour break and have something protein rich to eat..to give you energy..

And then have at it again..

The following day you can return to your problem areas and focus on them.

Good luck! :)

Interrupting your sleep is a waste of time. The information is not retained and you are stressing out your body. Set aside a time of day when you will focus solely on studying - no phone interruptions or any other kind!

Thank you so much. Sometimes I'm being procrastinated by some school stuffs ;( and I'm unable to read my targeted chapters.

even thou when sleeping, I'm still thinking about the books/ chapters / papers I need to read :( and unable to sleep properly. T.T thank you by the way for suggesting. it was a great help
