I overslept on clinical day!!!

I set the alarm, double-checked it, and I never heard it go off this morning. When I opened my eyes, I thought, "hmmm, it's awfully light outside". Then I looked at the clock--it was 7! My clinicals start at 7! Fortunately I live fairly close to the hospital and I made it there by 7:30. Our group was still having preconference, so I didn't miss out on any patient care. I apologized to my instructor and told her what happened--what else could I do? She didn't really say anything about it, so I don't know what she thinks. I know that some of the other clinical instructors are very strict about being on time. I NEVER EVER OVERSLEEP. EVER. And I am ALWAYS on time, if not early, so this has me really freaked out. It's thrown off my whole day. I even forgot to ask my pt about a bath--you know, the most obvious thing in the world. She wanted to get dressed right away and I never thought to mention it. Stupid, stupid me. Hope everyone else had a good day.

Hey there! I am a May grad so I know what you are going through....I managed to make it through all four years w/o being late for clinical.... but my very first nsg exam....well, it was at 8 am. I don't know how but I managed to turn off my alarm clock. 825 am I was awoken by my telephone...it was my nursing instructor....she was mad!!!! I lived on campus so I literally got to class 5 min later...in my pjs hair a mess, totally just rolled out of bed......everyone knew....anyhow, the adrenaline proved to do me well... I got a 95 on that test.... :)

Anyhow, just dont let it happen again...try your hardest.... it is early to wake up.... I now still set two alarms for work cus I am nooooo morning person :)

My clinicals start at 6:30 AM and of course I ALWAYS without fail sleep terrible the night before. I've been tempted to just stay awake the whole entire night, since I only get a couple hours sleep anyway! We've had people be late in our clinicals before - instructors are forgiving, but I'm sure they don't forget!;)
