How long does it take to get a response after a second interview?

Hi,

I am currently in my first year of nursing school. I recently applied for a nurses aide position at a hospital. I was called in for an initial interview, and was told after my background and reference checks I would be called in for a second interview.

About a week and a half after the initial interview I finally got a call to come in for the second interview which I went to yesterday (Thursday, Feb 7th.)

Does anyone know how long it usually takes after the second interview to hear back?

Thanks a lot.

Next time you have an interview for anything, thank the person who spoke with you, and then say, "When should I expect to hear from you?" When s/he tells you, say, "Thank you, I will give you a call (give date a few days later than that). Thank you again for taking the time to speak with me."

When the nurse recruiter called me up to schedule the second interview, I asked her if I should follow up with her after the interview and she said there was no need to follow up, that she would be getting in touch with me.

Then at the second interview after I thanked them for taking the time to meet with me, the nurse manager said I will be hearing from the nurse recruiter (didn't say when.) Again- I felt awkward asking "when." I didn't want to seem desperate. I plan on following up if I don't hear from them, but I am wondering how many days I should wait before calling if I don't hear back.

Give it a week. That should do.

Thanks.
