How do you know when a test will be difficult?

i have my first nursing test tomorrow for med-surg i. i am studying hard but i don't even think this will be a very difficult test. we have only had one class and tomorrow is the test. there is some memorizing for assessment and documentation and basic information about the aging population. maybe i'm missing something but i feel like i might be over-studying. the test is 50 questions, multiple choice.

am i spending too much time studying????? (my kids think i am avoiding them. and i am!)

How do I know when a test will be difficult? If I am not prepared. I can tell by whether I can summarize every section of material for which I'm responsible.

Are you over-studying? I don't know. Do you know all the material yet? If you do then you might be over-doing it a bit. If you don't then you might even be under-studying.

In my particular case, the hardest tests were the ones that I thought I was most prepared for. The ones that I stressed over ended up being almost easy. As long as you have done your personal best, that is all that can be expected of you by anyone, including yourself. Once you have a few tests under your belt, you will have a better idea of how your instructors write the tests.

On a side note--you have to take time for YOU, EACH DAY! Be sure to spend at least 1/2 hour with your kids, reassuring them that you love them and miss them as much as they miss you. Depending on their age, you might want to explain to them what being a nurse can offer the family (financial stability, job security, etc), perhaps even tell them that when you get out of school, a vacation to Disneyland (or wherever) will be taken when you rack up some vacation time at work.

It's a balancing act, try new ways to incorporate your kids into your schedule. They are children for only a short time, enjoy it while you can because once it's over....it's over.
