Help me find a good, quality starting stethoscope

Hi all!

I am in the process of trying to find a good, quality stethoscope for school, patient assessments, etc.

I've narrowed it down to a Littman, but I don't know if I should fork out the money right now for a Cardiology III. Should I buy a starter model (and, if so, which one), or should I buy the Cardiology III, knowing it will be an investment. I'd hate to lose it in the rush and hub-bub of nursing school, though.

Any thoughts and/or recommendations?

Thanks,

Lisa

try a litman lightweight...not as sensitive as the really good ones, but also not as likely to grow legs and walk away!!:D also fits in nursing student budget!

I agree, a good starting scope is the Littman II.

Here's a link to a thread about the Master Cardiology, it contains a lot of good information.

I got a Littmann Master Cardiology.. A little on the expensive side but worth the money. Comparing it to the base model steths you there's a world of difference. Listening to the apical site you can actually hear the valves closing. It's neat.
