Hey guys,

so I will be starting nursing school this fall, and I'm in the market for a tablet. I'm torn between the iPad Pro or the surface pro 4. Can anyone recommend one over the other? Thanks.

What do you want to use it for? If you're looking for a handy lightweight laptop substitute, I vote Surface (got one). They keyboard actually feels "real" & I love (!) the magical stylus. It runs all the MS products without any hiccups or delays. BUT--- honestly, it's really pricey. If you're just looking for a tablet/laptop combo (with fold-back keyboard) you could pick up one from HP or Dell with all the same specs for much less money.

Take a look at all the stuff you want to do, including peripherals you may want to use. How many USB ports will you need? Try out that keyboard to see if you can actually type on it. Will the screen be large enough for you? Honestly, although I really love my Surface, I mostly use it for streaming and email - the screen is too small to work on big documents, spreadsheets or presentations.

Thanks for replying! I've actually decided to go with the pro 3 -- it's cheaper and the pro 4 seems to have so many issues like it not wanting to wake up from sleep, and Microsoft doesn't seem to be doing a good job at fixing those. I already have a MBA, but what I'm really looking for is that in between tablet/laptop that I can use for do most of my studying/note taking while still being able to run desktop things. I was looking at the iPad Pro because of the apps (which would be useful for nursing school) and synchronicity with my Mac, but the surface pro 3 seems to have what I'm really looking for.

I love my SP3. It has fully functioned as my computer for the past year and has not really disappointed. Every so often the keyboard stops which is annoying but a quick reset takes care of that.

I also have a SP3. Definitely get whatever protection plan you can, just had mine replaced for free because the screen cracked when it fell behind my printer. I finally found some heavy duty cases on Amazon that make it more secure. I have had no issues with it, uploaded Microsoft office and it fully functions as my laptop. I haven't used the pen option very much though.
