Graduation thoughts....

Nursing Students General Students

Hello all.

I am getting ready to graduate my ADN program on the 18th of this month (Dec). Yipppeee!!! I am really excited. It has been a loonnngg 2 years. It has been an especially hard 6 months that has past. I am a single Mom of 5 wonderful children and my parents have been helping me out as much as they can so I can finish accomplishing my dream of becoming a nurse. Unfortunately, I lost my Dad in July of a sudden heart attack. This has been hard on my kiddos and my self as well as my dear Mother. Also, the day after my Dad passed away, my son's cardiologist gave me the news that my son needed open heart surgery as soon as possible for a congenital heart defect. He did well during surgery but after we got home, a week later he had a GI bleed and went into hypovolemic shock and I almost lost him. He was flown back to the Children's hospital and now he is doing very well. It has been a stressful road to say the least with may ups and downs and many nights wondering if I can really finish my care plan or stay awake long enough to study for that test. But I made it!!! (aside from finals next week  ) My son's cardiologist offered me a job and said that with what I have been through with my own son I would bring a great insight to the field. It is a couple of hours away and I might consider it but if not, then I will be considering the ER here where I live. Thanks to all of the great support on this board.... good luck to all of you and I wish all of you great success in school and beyond!!
