GPA Question

Nursing Students General Students

Hello, I am applying to Nursing school in March and I was just wondering from people who have already been accepted what their GPA was or what the average GPA is of a student that is accepted into the program. I go to a large University where the acceptance has a lot to do with your GPA.

I had a 3.66 overall cummulative counting some transfer credits I took over 12 years ago while earning my first degree. But my most recent 20 credits earned since returning to school was a 4.0 and I had excellent references. 400+ applicants for 37 spots and I was accepted. I just started my first semester of nursing school and I am doing very well... an A average so far.

It depends on the school but not everyone needs a 4.0 to get into nursing school. Good Luck!

Apply! If you are put on the waiting list stay in contact with the admissions coordinator. People drop out of programs all the time and it is often the first alternate who answers the phone who gets the slot. Out of 16 students in my accelerated group we had 3 late admissions including one who was accepted the first day of orientation. Luck to you!

When I went to orientation last April the coordinator listed the admission GPA as 3.6X and commented "I wouldn't have been accepted." She went on to get a Doctorate so don't let the GPA issue get you down.
