Generals?

I will be starting school to be an RN with in 6 months or so and I am looking to find out what are the generals I will need to know? What books can I read on to help prepare. I have so much going on in my life that I really need to find out what I can before classes start. Just the basic general would help.

A full BSN program will start out with the basics of anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, microbiology, algebra and nursing concepts. From there you will progress to more advanced courses such as health assessment, adult health, and pharmacology. Your initial focus should be performing well in your prerequisite courses to acquire a broad knowledge base in the maths and sciences you'll need for those later courses. Because this is a wealth of information, it would take me hours to list specific "general knowledge" required for nursing school. Reviewing some anatomy and physiology text books certainly won't hurt you, and from a nursing perspective, Florence Nightingale's book, "Notes on Nursing" is regarded as one of the fundamental works related to the evolution of the nursing practice. It's a good bit of history as well.
