Freaking out for my med-surg final. Do I have a chance? =/

My med-surg final is coming up and I am freaking out. My average is a 70.8, but my school requires a 75+ to pass. C- is a fail. I brought it up to my professor today and she said I can definitely pass...if I get around the mid to high 80s and above on my final, which encompasses all the subjects we've learned this semester (F&E through Periop Nursing) with a lot of the questions (10-15) each on Muscloskeletal Disorders, Renal, and HIV. Needless to say I am freaking out. I have been improving during these last two tests. The final will be 40% of my total grade. I don't want to fail, nor do I want to repeat the course (because then I will need a B to pass and nothing less). I'm so scared =/ Any advice, helpful hints? I study on my own, do groups, do practice questions...everything.

All I can say is ... don't waste time...

Get to it... NOW. Give it your soul. Utilize all the time you have when you aren't studying for other exams.

There's NO such thing as over studying. Do not be a victim.

Ask yourself how much you want this?

Note: If a group begins to get off topic and out of control get the heck out. Be very weary of study groups. Focus on your weaknesses. ASK your professors where your gaps are..If its HIV allocate time to HIV! Lead back to the things you DO know and recap them.

Yes you do have a chance. You can and will only if you are willing. You'll get back what you give.

Good luck I was in the same situation this semester as well but the only difference is that our school requires you to have a 78 and I passed with a 77.6 because it rounded up to a 78 . I passed by the skin of my teeth!

I buckled down and studied all day and all night. The only thing I was doing was studying and only left the house if it was absolutely necessary. I studying the beginning if the semester to the end and then started with what I had difficulty understanding to what came easy to me and its funny how It seem like I had the same content you had this semester as you mentioned above.

So good luck again, try not to stress so much and no matter what happens reward yourself after the final because you gave it your all!

Teach the material to anyone who will listen. For me, I can't just read a book or study notes. When I try to "teach" the material to someone else, it sticks much better. You have to understand the subject somewhat to be able to teach it and for me, whatever I do not really understand, I figure it out while explaining it to someone else. My poor husband probably knows a lot of things that he doesn't really care about! Also, write your own tests and find the answers. This also helps me retain information. Mix up what you do to study a little bit. You got this!

Oh yes...that's a great idea to teach the material even if you try to teach it to a pretend class lol seriously though. It may sounds crazy at first but believe me I tried it and it helped when I didn't have someone to teach the material. You will do some crazy things if your desperate like I was and in my case it worked!

Something else I did was chew on some gum during the exam to get the blood pumping in my brain. I also sent out a message to all my family and friends through text, twitter, and Instagram for them to wish my luck on my final and my grade after my final lol.

Let us know how it went for you in your final...luck luck

Thank you all so much for your ideas ad support...I passed! I'm so thankful! =) I studied my butt off and did super on my final. Looking forward to my next semester, it's going by so fast I can't wait to be done!

If you do chew gum PLEASE do not smack the gum or pop little bubbles with it. I had a girl next to me in a final do that once. Good grief!

Next time don't wait until the last minute to bust your butt in class. No one ever cried from being over-prepared, but many have cried from waiting until the last test to bust their ***!

Now, remember that the next semesters will be harder because they will require you to know, really know, everything you learned this semester. Don't put it off-- keep up that excellent study plan from the first week, and you'll do much better. And you'll be more likely to pass.

I'm sure I wasn't chewing loudly because that's one of my pet peeves. But if I was I don't think anybody heard because we were so focus on that exam lol. And even if you didn't wait the last minute, you're still going to be worried about doing well on a final because if you make a mistake (as humans do) you can't make it up.

Hope your final went well!
