Hi, I just got my very first clinical assignment and it's in the cardiopulmonary unit. Is is my first semester of nursing school and I was looking for any advice for those who have had their clinical rotation in that unit, or a like unit, or RN's who currently work there! Anything and everything will help :)

Specializes in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

Go listen to heart tones and breath sounds online, read up on incentive spirometry, and look up blood pressure meds, diuretics, and bronchodilators to start...

I would look up the etiology, patho, and treatments of congestive heart failure and COPD...

That should keep you busy for a while.

Specializes in Education, FP, LNC, Forensics, ED, OB.
