I have just finished my first semester at Southwest and sadly I failed 2 classes and am dismissed from the program. I was told I would be able to return in 2 semesters but that I have to reapply. Anyone out there been in my same situation at Southwest?

I'm sorry that you are in such a situation. Nursing classes are difficult but they are not impossible. I remember feeling like I just didn't "get it" until I went on this forums and asked people what they did to pass.

Some people suggest to me some very good supplemental texts and books to aid my studying. You should not rely on one method of studying alone if you can hit at the topics at different angles.

May I asked what you did to study? How far along are you in your program? What were these classes?

I'm only in my first semester. My classes were foundations and dosages. I finally understood dosages but it was too late to pull my grade up. Foundations was the pits!!!! I hate that class! I only used my book to study but I finally bought a few books to help me study before I reapply for next fall.

Fundamentals was hard for me too. I bought this book

http://www.amazon.com/Fundamentals-Success-Applying-Critical-Thinking/dp/0803619219/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418262501&sr=8-2&keywords=fundamentals+success

and it helped me a lot. You're going to find out as you move along the program that there are only so many ways they can ask you about a certain disease or topic. So, buy or borrow as much books to answer as many NCLEX questions as you can.

Thats how I succeeded in my classes. Sometimes, I would even go to the Barnes and Nobles and just open a book and practice questions then put them back on the shelf. Just make sure you don't crease the pages or ruin the "like new" condition of these books when you return them back to the shelf. :D

Awesome!! Thank you so much!!!
