certified letter?

This question is for all of you who have either been accepted or denied to a nursing school. I had to go to the hospital with my hubby today (he is fine, he just had to have a cyst removed). Anyways, while we were gone, we missed the mail and I am supposed to go tomorrow to pick up a certified letter that had been delivered from one of the schools that I have applied to. I was just wondering, do they send certified letters for rejection and acceptance? What did you receive? I know I only have to wait until tomorrow, but was wondering what you all thought. I am trying to not get my hopes up too high, but I am really hoping it is an acceptance letter. I figure that acceptance letters

defiantely have to be registered so nobody can say they didn't get their books or their physical or study or whatever before school starts. I will let you all know as soon as I know what it is.

Our acceptance/rejection letters were sent via regular mail. My acceptance letter was dated July 31, but not mailed til Aug 5, and I (as well as most everyone else at orientation) got it on the 6th. Naturally there was this line in there that you had to call the school to respond to the letter BY THE 6TH or you might have to forfeit your spot! Orientation was that following Monday, the 10th, at 8 am Some people did say they didn't get theirs until the 7th or 8th, and there were even those that were on vacation and missed orientation too.

There is no telling what your certified letter could be. Hopefully its good news!

most likely it's a acceptance letter.

I agree with Jake. I don't see why they would send a rejection letter certified.

But if there are deadlines like ggfifi had, it would make sense to send certified so they know when you got the acceptance letter.

My acceptance letter came in the regular mail. If I had to speculate, I would guess a school would sent an acceptance letter by certified mail.

That's what I thought too. Unfortunately, they were actually notifying me that they too had changed their policy after receiving applications to not accept people who aren't entirely done with their pre-reqs. Nice, huh? This letter came from the school that takes everyone with a 2.5 gpa and enters them into a lottery anyways. I didn't figure I would have too much luck with them. Well, I still have one more school to hope for as for this next semester. Hopefully, they won't change their policy this year too. At least they are the ones who decide based on gpa, letters of recommendation, and application essay. I have to wait until the end of November or early December for this one. Thanks for all the good thoughts.

It just wasn't meant to be. I really do think I have a better shot at the other school. I was just hoping that the waiting to find out part would be over. Thanks for the hugs though.

The waiting is horrible..........I am hoping for a bright outcome on your other school. The setbacks will only make the rewards so much sweeter.

Sorry to hear that the letter didn't have the news you were hoping for. I was rejected the first time I applied due to not having enough enough of my prereqs finished. I was disappointed, but it worked out for the best. I just applied for the next semester, and took my last two prereqs while waiting...that definitely got me in the next time.

The waiting is just as hard the 2nd time, though, so be prepared! However, it sounds like you already had a plan in place before you got the certified letter, and that means you are thinking ahead. Hugs to you, and best of luck for the other school!
