I'm hoping to start the Deaconess ADN program this fall, but the tuition is horrible ( about $25,000 or more), and there is no way I can afford to repay a loan that size on top of the student loan I already have. Can anyone offer advice on where to look for a student nurse schlorship/grant? My employer offers $1,000 per year, but that only pays 1/3 of a semester's tuition!
This program is really my only option if I hope to be a nurse in the next few years. The local schools are closed to new students until 2007! I've already waited 5 years to try and do this, and I don't want to wait anymore.
TIA

I would also suggest you speak to your school about scholarships. You should also go to

You should do a search of nursing student organizations. Almost all of them offer scholarships.
Talbots also offers a scholarship....$1,000 for students seeking an A.S. and $10,000 for students seeking a B.S. You have to at least been out of school for 10 years though. I applied for this scholarship this year. I hope I get it.

Hope this helps,
