Books that make the hard stuff easier???

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I am getting ready for fall semester and thinking about books. I have such a hard time reading all the boring words in my textbooks. I thought some other students could share the books/cds, etc., that helped them through the hard stuff.

For me, I LOVE my Nursing Diagnosis Cards. They saved me hours on my care plans. You just read the index of illnesses and pick a matching card, then for each goal it lists an intervention and a rational. I was miles ahead of those students that typed there careplans and saved them. No need to spent time "customizing" just pick realistic goals and match the numbers!

I also found that Med/surg made incredibly easy was a lifesaver!

I did NOT like Pharm Made Incredibly Easy because it did not give pt education. I also found Pathophysiology MIE was a waste of money.

What helped you?

Thanks in advance!

I really like the book Clinical Calculations a Unified Approach by Daniels and Smith. This book focuses ONLY on dimensional analysis and teaches you how to solve ANY medical calculation problem with only one formula. Why memorize ten formulas when you only need one!

Fluids and Electrolytes Made Incredibly Easy

I still refer to it. For that portion of lecture we an instructor who was just a trip. She was pretty disorganized. On top of that , she is VERY smart and had trouble bringing complex things to a simple novice level. I also had her for clinical, which I loved. She had us do anything and everything we could get our hands on. However, I found her very frustrating for lecture. She was just too all over the place. I wound up with one of the highest grades in my class on the Fluids and Electrolytes test. That book saved my a . . .er . . . neck! Hope it helps. Good luck in the fall!

Thank-You! We touched on Fluid and electrolytes in fundementals, will we go over it in more detail in Critical Care Nursing (Adult Nursing II for me)?

I just placed my order too! Thanks :)

You're Welcome!

Ali
