BMCC Fall 2015

Nursing Students General Students

Hello everyone! I am new to this site and so glad that I found it!

I just got accepted into the BMCC (Borough Of Manhattan Community College) nights/weekend nursing program for the Fall 2015 (yay! :D). Throughout the time I was taking my pre-reqs there were so many discouraging students that I almost gave up on trying. BUT thankfully I didn't. Everyone telling me that I had to have at least a 3.9 GPA was BS! My GPA is 3.5 and I got an overall average of 85.33% on my HESI exam :sneaky:. Please, do not let anyone discourage you and focus on yourself!

On another note, I was wondering if any of you who have had experience with this program know an estimate on cost. I was a bit surprised that the acceptance package says the overall total for just the uniform and text books would be about $1,000, yikes.

If you can tell me about how much I will need to get started in my first semester? Including uniform, all textbooks (including the ones I need to read before the semester begins), and tuition. I have to take out a loan ASAP (stupid financial aid thinks I'm rich apparently ).

Thank you in advance!

Congratulations Sabrina!

I got accepted into the evening program as well.

I'm sure Mr.S has already mentioned NOT to buy the books yet, since they are still working out the deal with the textbook company. Next steps will be discussed at orientation this July.

As for costs, here is a thread that I came upon a while back discussing this

[it will give you an idea of what to expect]:

Here is a more detailed article from a current student:

Look for the first comment by yar5, who provides a breakdown of costs

These are the costs IN ADDITION to the tuition.

Since you are an evening student, I'm assuming that you are only taking NUR 112 in FALL/15?

This would equal 8 credits.

If you are a NYC resident, you will be paying $210.00/credit.

This would come out to $1,680 for the semester, and about $3,360/year.

Here are the details: Office of the Bursar - Tuition

Contact the office of Financial aid ASAP!

The aid gets dispersed in October, and then around March.

Hope this is helpful.

I look forward to meeting you in class!

[That is, if we don't bump into each other sooner!]

Thank you so much and congratulations to you getting in as well!

It's so funny because I read the exact same threads. I have been hunting on this website for every single thing I've been worrying about haha! Your response clarified a lot for me, I really appreciate it. I will have to take out a loan I just didn't want to take out too much or too little but If I take out too much I will send the rest right back to them. You gave me a better estimate than what I was thinking.

Hope to see you at orientation July 9th!
