I'm in Kentucky and one of the nursing students who attended my CPR class mentioned something about the state of Kentucky paying tuition, books and living expenses for nursing students. The only thing you have to do is work at one of their pre-picked hospitals, which have a shortage of nurses, for two years after graduation.
I've looked and looked online but can't find nothing about it. Anybody here know what she was talking about?

This one is not just for KY, but for anyone in the country, it seems like it's the one you are describing:

We have a program called Adopt a Student Nurse. A network of hospitals pays for the 2 year ADN, they give you 2000 a semster to spend however you need and you sign an agreement to work for the hospital for 2 years. You can also take out loans as well to help cover any extra costs.
Thanks! The link that Cynthiann posted sounds like what she was talking about. She said they pay about $1100 a month just to cover living expenses while you go to school. I just assumed it was a state of Kentucky thing.
It looks like I already missed the deadline for it. Oh well. Thanks anyway! :-)
Maybe I'll look into that Adopt a Nurse program now, iliel. :-)
Good luck, I hope you can atleast get into something by next semester!
