Bold for TL;DR

I'm starting the LPN program next week, but already thinking about what I should do after. It finishes around next year June. I'm conflicted as what to do as I've still not decided what career path I actually want, nursing or computer programming...

  • To go from LPN (with self-taught computer programming) to RN to BSN to MSN.
  • To go from LPN (with self-taught computer programming) to BSN to MSN...I live in an area where my resources are very limited, so I've found one online LPN to BSN program that's accredited and approved by my state for licensing.
  • To do the LPN program while earning a bachelor's in bio at a tier 1 university that I've previously went to (they now offer the program online), that way I can have the direct entry MSN or a chance at a Master's in Bioinformatics.
  • To do the LPN program while earning a bachelor's in computer science at a tier 1 university that I've previously went to (they now offer the program online), so I can become a programmer/dev (could potentially lead to bioinformatics...but this particular computer science has a difficult curriculum for me to handle both).
  • To do a, in essence, "double major" with LPN and computer science at the same school, where their computer science curriculum in a bit easier than the university, but it's a private not well-recognized school and potentially decreases chances of bioinformatics or programming job opportunities.
  • To do the LPN program while attending a hack-school for programming (these take about 12-24 weeks), so I can I have a backup for each trade that I may decide to go fully into later on..then idk, MSN or programming (???). Hack-schools aren't regulated, so possibility of getting a job in programming in hindered.

The workload for the LPN program for me will be significantly reduced because of my prerequisites.

I know I sound all over the place, but LPN will be my starting point regardless of what I decide to do after, as it's a support in case anything goes wrong. I'm 23, but have yet to complete any type of degree and feel like I'm behind everyone else. I went to university out of high school at 17 and was a pre-pharm major, but it was too difficult for me, emotionally and academically. I always felt dumber than my classmates because I was ill-prepared. It was also my first time actually leaving home because I was super sheltered, so there was a lack of emotional support when I was alone, I guess? This probably led to the amplified depression, anxiety (from previous years), and now I've recently been diagnosed with ADD; so I'm pretty much a mess, right now... :')

I have an interest in programming, which is why I thought bioinformatics would be a good option for me, but the path getting there is confusing and long.

I don't even know what I really want to do with my life and feel like I'm wasting my time/running out of time... :\ and I'm being a waste of space, money, and air that should go to someone more useful at being alive.

Any advice?

Hang on a minute. You're missing something - there is actually a very hot new emerging career field .... Healthcare Informatics ... that you left off your decision options. It's a hybrid that merges computer science with healthcare. Based on the information you've provided, it may be just the thing for you. Here's a link to AMIA - a professional site with tons of information, including options for various degrees and certifications.

Nursing Informatics!!!

Become an RN, do an MSN with concentration in Informatics.

Here is one example of an MSN Informatics program. Nursing Informatics
