I have a job interview (my first since I got my license) at Truman Smith Children's Hospital in Gladewater, TX. They take pts from all over the country. These are children that are on vents, have trachs, most are severely brain damaged, paralyzed, ...etc. Alot of SBS kids (Shaken Baby Syndrome). I was just wondering if this would be considered Critical Care Nursing. Thanks for any feedback.

The answer is no

it's definately not a rehab, because these kids will never get any better. They are at their max potential. I guess after I think about it, it may be referred to as a LTC facility for critically ill children.

it sounds like an LTAC (long-term acute care) facility that specializes in pediatric care. I know of critical care nurses who go to work in places like that (and they do appreciate getting nurses with critical care backgrounds) but you don't really need it to work in that type of facility, though it is helpful.
